Evansville Wins Again!

citlogoKansas, City, MO – Evansville kept the Missouri Valley’s post season winning ways going with a CollegeInsider.Com Tournament win over the Ohio Valley’s Eastern Kentucky.  Senior Colt Ryan scored 25 points and sparked the Aces to an 86 -72 win.

Eastern Kentucky finishes the season with a record of 25 & 10, while Evansville moves on to the CIT quarter-finals carrying a record of 20 & 14.  Both of Evansville’s CIT wins have been against OVC teams.

Joining Ryan in double figure scoring were Troy Taylor (16 a career high), Ned Cox (13) and D.J. Balentine (13). The win gives Head Coach Marty Simmons his first 20 win season in Evansville and the Aces will have their second winning season in Simmons’ six seasons in the MVC. After finishing with identical 16 & 16 records the last two years, the Aces are on a three-year streak of non-losing seasons.

Four Colonels reached double figures too. Glenn Cosey netted 18, Mike DiNunno had 14, Corey Walden 12 and Eric Stutz scored 11.  All three Ohio Valley Conference teams involved in post-season play have now been eliminated.

Gaining a second post-season win for the first time since winning the 1971 National Championship the Aces await word on their quarter-final opponent.  Ryan’s 25 points moved him within eight of Larry Humes’ school record of 2,236. He is 44 points from Tulsa’s Steve Harris for sixth on the all-time Missouri Valley scoring list.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
