Creighton Makes It 2 – 0 For MVC

Kansas City – The Missouri Valley Conference is making noise in the NCAA Tournament, even if one of the noisiest teams is heading for the Big East. Creighton moved on to the Big Dance’s third round with a 67 -63 win over current Big East member Cincinnati. BTW, the Bearcats won’t be in the “New And Improved” Big East next year.

All-American Doug McDermott led three Bluejays in double figures with 27 points & 11 rebounds. The national player of the year candidate made all 11 of his free throw attempts as the Jays ran their record to 28 – 7 and for the second year in-a-row will face an Atlantic Coast Conference team for a chance to go to the ‘Sweet Sixteen’. Last year it was North Carolina and this year it will be Duke.

Wichita State a first round winner plays Oregon on Saturday.

McDermott has now amassed 2,195 career points, the seventh most in Missouri Valley history. Sixth place is held by Evansville’s Colt Ryan with 2,203.  Ryan plays tomorrow in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

Gregory Echenique scored 13 points and Ethan Wragge added 12.

While that game was being played in Philadelphia, rumors swirl here in Kansas City about who may replace Creighton in the MVC. We’ve heard Belmont, Valparaiso, Oral Roberts and even South Dakota State. We’re continuing to probe and poke for answers. Who knows, you could read it here first!

After a long day of basketball in Kansas City we have the match-up everyone wanted with North Carolina and Coach Roy Williams taking on his former team the Kansas Jayhawks.

Do Good

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
