Week Five Stars of the Valleys

Taylor A Three Time Winner

(St. Louis, MO) – Ray’Sean Taylor is setting the pace for the stars of the Valleys. The Southern Illinois Edwardsville guard is the first three-time award winner. In just five weeks, the Collinsville native has made a huge mark on the Ohio Valley Conference.

The stars of the Valleys are announced every Monday and explosive performances were abounding.

Ohio Valley Conference

Tevin Brown sparked Murray State to a 74-72 victory over previously nationally ranked Memphis. The 6’5 guard buried six three-pointers on his way to a 22-point performance. His ‘Player of the Week‘ honor is the third for a Murray State player. Center K.J. Williams is a two-time winner of the weekly award.

Austin Peay’s Cameron Copeland scored 25 points during APSU’s only game. The College of Charleston transfer added six rebounds and six assists to his impressive game total. Copeland, the OVC’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘ reached the 20-point plateau for the first time in a Governor uniform, but the fifth time in is collegiate career.

SIUE’s Taylor has won back-to-back ‘Freshman of the Week‘ honors and has collected three such notifications overall. The 6’1 guard helped the Cougars to a pair of victories by averaging 19.5 points-per-game, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. SIUE defeated Purdue-Fort Wayne and Kansas City.

Missouri Valley Conference

Isiaih Mosley put together a pair of 20-point performances and sparked Missouri State to two wins. He also earned two, weekly awards. For scoring 46 points (25 & 21) Mosley has been named the Valley’s ‘Player of the Week‘, but has also earned a national honor. The 6’5 guard is also the ‘Lou Henson – Mid Major Player of the Week‘.

Southern Illinois’ Ben Coupet scored 27 points during his team’s narrow defeat to Tulsa. The Little Rock transfer hit six triples during the contest and is the Valley’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘.
