SEC Tournament Coming to St. Louis

Editor: The following is a release from the St. Louis Sports Commission. Our thoughts are after the press release.

(St. Louis, MO) – The St. Louis Sports Commission and the University of Missouri are proud to welcome the 2018 Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament for its debut in the Gateway City. The tournament, which boasts some of the best basketball in the country, will be held at Scottrade Center from March 7-11, 2018. St. Louis has hosted numerous NCAA men’s basketball events, most notable being the the Final Four in 2005, along with four Midwest Regionals in 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2012, and the 1st/2nd Rounds in 2002, 2014 and 2016. The much anticipated SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament will rank as one of the biggest events to come to the region and fans can’t wait to welcome SEC Nation to the Midwest.

Our Thoughts –

Valley Hoops Insider loves that more college basketball events will be played in the Gateway City! Knowing that the SEC is a great football conference and an emerging basketball conference makes this even more exciting.

It will be interesting to see how the tournament is run. The Sports Commission and the Missouri Valley Conference are the entities that typically host these great events, and obviously this one will be run without Doug Elgin’s fine staff.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
