OVC is Coming to Gray Media

Free/Linear Broadcasts on the Way

(St. Louis, MO) – Ohio Valley Conference games are coming to free television as the OVC is coming to Gray Media television stations! The company announced today they are entering into a partnership to bring OVC action to twenty markets in five states.

Today, OVCSports.com released the news about free and linear broadcasts coming to the markets related to conference institutions. Gray has a similar agreement with the Missouri Valley Conference. Learn more about Gray, Tupelo Honey and their passion for college basketball in our interview with President John Servizzi and Associate Producer Braden Pretzsch.

OVCSports.com says the games will be distributed across numerous regional sports entities.

“In particular, Gray’s Tennessee Valley Sports & Entertainment Network looks forward to bringing three Tennessee institutions – Tennessee State University, Tennessee Technological University, and University of Tennessee at Martin – to Tennessee viewers across the state. The Tennessee Valley Sports & Entertainment Network broadcasts over-the-air in Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Gray’s WMC+ in Memphis also participates in the network.”

In addition, Gray’s Matrix Midwest in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, Missouri, will serve hometown viewers of OVC’s Southeast Missouri State University, Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, and Lindenwood University, while Gray’s Illinois stations in Peoria, Quincy, and Rockford are excited to serve fans of OVC’s Western Illinois University and Eastern Illinois University.  Gray’s Indiana stations in Evansville, Ft. Wayne, and South Bend will focus on University of Southern Indiana, and Gray will also bring the package to fans of Morehead State University in Lexington, Kentucky.  Gray anticipates engaging a third-party broadcast partner in Little Rock for the University of Arkansas – Little Rock.”

The Schedule

A twelve date, tentative schedule includes men’s and women’s games. Seven doubleheaders are planned along with four men’s individual games and one women’s contest. The Gray Media schedule starts with a December 18th doubleheader. Western Illinois visits Lindenwood for a women’s/men twin bill. Perhaps the marquee men’s game is set for January 17 when defending regular season champion Southeast Missouri hosts defending tournament winner SIUE.

Each league team will appear in the broadcasts. While the OVC is coming to Gray Media, Eastern Illinois will be the most seen university. The Panthers will appear in six of the league broadcasts. There will be eight Thursday dates and three Saturdays. Head to OVCSports.com for the full schedule.

Opening round of #ArchMadness is today. The only quarterfinal we know is @UIC_MBB v @RacersHoops tomorrow at 2:30. We look at their contrasting styles heading into the @MVCsports tournament. #FatherHarry

Don't look now, but @BustingBrackets tells us some of the hottest teams coming into #ArchMadness aren't the teams at the top of the bracket. @ValpoBasketball, @SIU_Basketball & @UNImbb shouldn't be overlooked. #FatherHarry

ICYMI: @BelmontMBB & @BradleyUMBB are two of the best at being committed to development and succeeding at the same time. #ArchMadness

Congrats to @RogerPowellJr, @CoachJonny_B & @NdotSmitty being named to the Ben Jobe Award finalist list. Well deserved!
