Historic Performances – Weekly Awards

Prim & Yesufu Make Their Mark

(St. Louis, MO) – Gaige Prim and Joseph Yesufu put together historical performances and are sharing the Missouri Valley Conference’s top weekly honor. Each player accomplished something rarely seen and stirred up memories of former great players.

Missouri State’s Prim did his damage during the Bears’ only game last week. The 6’8 senior scored 29 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. His 20-20 was the Valley’s first since former MSU star Alize Johnson scored 24 and nabbed 20 in January of 2018. This week’s ‘Co-Player of the Week‘ is one of eight Division 1 players to accomplish the rare feat this season.

It is Prim’s second weekly award this season.

Yesufu turned into Michael Jordan and scored 88 points during Drake’s three-game-week. The 6’ sophomore scored 20, then 32 and then 36 points. His back-to-back 30-point performances were the first by a Bulldog player since 1988. The 36-point performance is this season’s top Valley performance and it came in Yesufu’s first career start.

While Drake is tied for first place this is the first ‘Player of the Week‘ award for any Bulldog player.

Newcomer Award

He didn’t break any records, but Illinois State’s Emon Washington scored 20 points in the Redbirds’ rivalry win over Bradley. The 6’6 freshman also grabbed eight rebounds and is this week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘. Teammate Josiah Strong took those honors during the season’s first week.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
