Explosive Performances by Stars of the Valleys

Hill and Mosley Setting Records

(St. Louis, MO) – Prolific scoring seems to be popping up everywhere in the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conferences. Twenty-point games, thirty-point games and even 40-point games are showing up in league box scores and this week’s award winners stepped up in big scoring ways this week.

Ohio Valley Conference

For the sixth time this year a Murray State player is the league’s ‘Player of the Week’. Justice (Juice) Hill became the Racers’ third weekly winner when he sparked MSU to a surprisingly easy victory over Belmont. The 6’ sophomore scored the most points by an OVC player this season when he buried eight three-pointers on his way to 36 points as Murray won its first-ever game at Belmont. 82-60 was the final.

Tennessee State battled the league’s two undefeated teams las week and lost to both, but forward Kassim Nicholson grabbed eleven rebounds in each contest and scored 18 points against Morehead State. The 6’7 UAB grad-transfer is having an outstanding rebounding season (8.3 per game) and is the OVC’s ‘Newcomer of the Week’.

One of the OVC’s top rookies has finally claimed one of the weekly awards. Belmont’s Will Richard averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Bruins split a pair of games. ‘Freshman of the Week’ Richard is the league’s fourth leading freshman scorer (11.8 ppg).

Missouri Valley Conference

Missouri State’s Isiaih Mosley is on an historic tear. The 6’5 junior has topped the 30-point mark three straight times and has averaged 36 points per game over that span. He is the first Bear to accomplish the feat since 1978 and the ‘Player of the Week’ is the first Valley player to do so since 1989. Mosley is the reigning MVC scoring champion and currently is second to Illinois State’s Antonio Reeves (20.8 to 20.0).

Terry Roberts’ first season at Bradley has been filled with headlines. Monday he was named the Valley’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘. That marks the third time Roberts has received the award. He averaged over 20 points per game last week and his season average of 15.8 ppg leads all Valley newcomers. His 4.3 assists per game lead his team and are second in the league to fellow newcomer, Indiana State’s Xavier Bledson (4.8).

While you're all stirred up about @MissouriStBears leaving the @MVCsports you can get to know @UIC_MBB new coach @RobEhsan who is building the Flames' basketball program.

Since 2000, Missouri State's football team is 101-164. They've accumulated 5 winning seasons, with ONE being better than 6-5. They've accumulated SEVEN seasons of at least 8 losses. Not knocking them for struggling, but to move up for THAT sport has to come with some very good $
