Bears Rousseau Gone for Good

Editor: The following is a press release from Missouri State.

SPRINGFIELD – After a three-week absence from the men’s basketball program at Missouri State, junior guard Ronnie Rousseau III has decided to step away from the game of basketball at this time, Bears’ head coach Paul Lusk announced Monday.

Rousseau has been with his family in Cincinnati since departing the team for personal reasons on Jan. 7.

“Ronnie has been a joy to coach since the day he set foot on our campus, and our program will miss him greatly,” said Lusk. “But those things are secondary to someone’s health and overall wellbeing. We know he needs his family near him right now, and we support his decision.”

The transfer from State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Mo., started 14 games for the Bears and was averaging 11.6 points and 2.9 assists per game while converting 80.5 percent of his free throws and 48.3 percent of his field goal attempts.

“Missouri State has been home since day one,” said Rousseau. “I love my coaches and my brothers on the team. They’ve been nothing but a pleasure to be with every day. I appreciate the opportunity I was given to play for such a great university, and I appreciate everyone’s support for me.”

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
