Voices of the Valley – Jeff Bidwell

Racers in the Cayman Islands

(St. Louis, MO) – Voices of the Valley takes us to the Cayman Islands to speak with ‘voice of the Racers’ Jeff Bidwell. Murray State’s basketball team is off to a 4-2 start and play McNeese State tonight after a narrow loss last night. Jeff is also the host of Morning in the Valley and Racersbasketball.com. We will give you details in how those things are changing.

Murray State leads the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring and is last in scoring defense. The Racers are third in field goal percentage and tenth in defensive field goal percentage. Ryan Miller’s team is the league leader in three-point percentage and again tenth (second last) in stopping long distance connections.

Bidwell has been the play-by-play voice the Racers since Hall-of-Famer Neal Bradley retired in 2023, but will be making a career change and this will be his last season behind the Murray State microphone. We talk about the Racers and their need to rebound and play defense and we discus Jeff’s very difficult decision to make a new career move.

Enjoy!

The Racers play McNeese (4-1) tonight at 6:30 pm as part of the Cayman Islands Classic. McNeese is eighty-ninth in the latest KenPom.com rankings. A win for Murray State would be a huge boost to both the Racers’ and the Valley’s national notoriety. The Valley is currently tenth in KenPom.com conference rankings sandwiched between Conference USA (eleventh) and the American Athletic Conference.

Murray State rounds out its Cayman Islands experience tomorrow with a game against the Atlantic Ten’s George Washington squad. GW is ranked 63rd and the ATen is seventh among the nation’s conferences.

Voices of the Valley is a podcast edition to our site where we speak with broadcasters, writers and reporters in the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conferences.
