Valley Stars Mentoring Younger Players
Domask and Banks Launch Core3 Mentorship
(St. Louis, MO) – Many ex-college basketball players have turned pro and making a nice living but there are two Valley stars mentoring younger players. Former Southern Illinois Salukis Marcus Domask and Dalton Banks have teamed up to launch Core3Mentorship to help aspiring hoopers learn the ropes of basketball and life.
Domask played four years at SIU and finished his career with a stint at the University of Illinois. Banks donned the Saluki maroon for three seasons and finished with two at Illinois State. Dalton was twice named the captain of those Redbird teams, including last year’s College Basketball Insider championship team.
Domask was a three-time all-MVC player and was named the Big Ten’s all-league team. Banks was tagged as one of the Valley’s top defenders. He finished his career with more than 1,000 points, four hundred rebounds and 400 assists. Domask accumulated over 2,000 points, 750 rebounds and 500 helpers.
While each of them is playing professionally overseas, they felt like it was time to figure out a way to help others. They wanted to ‘give back’ to the game they love and young people with similar passions. After months of conversations, the idea for Core3Mentorship was ready to launch.
We conversed about their MVC playing days, got caught up on their current playing career and tried to find out more about this mentorship program.

Valley fans remember Domask wearing the number one. At Illinois he wore the number three. That was Banks’ number both in Carbondale and in Bloomington-Normal. Thus, ‘Core3’ became a part of the mentorship program’s name. Each player had high praise for their college coaches. While each played for Bryan Mullins at SIU, they each enjoyed their other experiences.
