Taylor Barnette on Faith in Sports

Former Bruin Star Still Making Impact

(St. Louis, MO) – Taylor Barnette’s career at Belmont was highly successful and he continues to make impact on Nashville’s basketball world. Barnette played three seasons at Belmont and all three campaigns ended with the Bruins in postseason play. Now he helps collegiate players understand to the role of faith in sports.

During the 2014-2017 seasons Barnette averaged double figures and the Bruins won three straight Ohio Valley Conference Eastern Division titles and participated in one NCAA Tournament and two National Invitation Tournaments.

It was Barnette’s game-winning triple that sent the Bruins to the 2015 NCAA Tournament and the twenty-fifth ranked Murray State Racers to the NIT.

Belmont has traditionally had a Bible study that some of the players would attend, but it had ceased to be. Head Coach Casey Alexander asked Taylor to revive the efforts and this time he included players from other Nashville-based basketball programs.

Current Belmont players Tyler Lundblade and Brigham Rogers are among those attending the Sunday night studies.

Those players are growing in their understanding about faith in sports and in life, relationships with each other and how to become solid citizens.

Opening round of #ArchMadness is today. The only quarterfinal we know is @UIC_MBB v @RacersHoops tomorrow at 2:30. We look at their contrasting styles heading into the @MVCsports tournament. #FatherHarry

Don't look now, but @BustingBrackets tells us some of the hottest teams coming into #ArchMadness aren't the teams at the top of the bracket. @ValpoBasketball, @SIU_Basketball & @UNImbb shouldn't be overlooked. #FatherHarry

ICYMI: @BelmontMBB & @BradleyUMBB are two of the best at being committed to development and succeeding at the same time. #ArchMadness

Congrats to @RogerPowellJr, @CoachJonny_B & @NdotSmitty being named to the Ben Jobe Award finalist list. Well deserved!
