Academic Honors Court
(St. Louis, MO) – Five Missouri Valley basketball teams have been recognized for their academic excellence. Belmont, Illinois Chicago, Illinois State, Northern Iowa and Valparaiso are recipients of the 2024-25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.
The awards represent achievement in the classroom by men’s college basketball teams and individual players. The NABC’s press release says, “The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men’s basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.”
Nine Northern Iowa Panthers are a part of the Honors Court. Ben Schwieger, Cael Schmitt, Charley Miller, Chase Courbat, Hunter Jacobson, Jacob Hutson, R.J. Taylor and Tytan Anderson represent the largest single team unit in the Valley. Academic excellence has always been crucial to head coach Ben Jacobson.
Five Illinois State Redbirds were named to the Honors Court. Boden Skunberg, Caden Boser, Dalton Banks, Landon Wolf and Malachi Poindexter led the Redbird scholars.
Seven Belmont Bruins, Tyler Lundblade, Aiden Noyes, Jake Dykstra, Aiden Braccia, Isaiah Walker, Carter Whitt and Brody Peebles are a part of the Honors Court. The Bruins are the only D1 program to be honored in this way during every year of this NABC program!
Devon Ellis, Isaiah Stafford, Joe Vick and Louth-M Coulibaly are the Valpo Honors Court members. Filip Skobalj is UIC’s honors court member.
UNI’s Anderson was also an all-Valley performer.
