Second OVC Preview

USI and UT Martin

(St. Louis, MO) – During our second OVC preview we speak with the coaches and some players from the Ohio Valley Conference’s officially eighth and ninth ranked teams. Southern Indiana and UT Martin have dramatically remade their rosters.

These teams are ranked according to OVC’s official poll and not my opinions. Those will be shared on BustingBrackets.com.

No. 9 – Southern Indiana – 10-20 (5-15)

OVC’s ‘Players to Watch’ – Trey Thomas (16.2 peg & 3.6 rebounds for Bethune-Cookman) & Ismail Habib (8.7 ppg for Portland State).

We interviewed fourth year (Division 1) coach Stan Gouard (34-61) and California transfer) Devin Curtis.

No. 8 – UT Martin – 14-19 (9-11)

OVC’s ‘Players to Watch’ – Afan Trnka (8.3 ppg & 3.0 assists) & Lamine Niang (3.6 ppg & 3.6 rebounds).

We interviewed head second year coach Jeremy Shulman (14-19, 9-11) and the 6’9 Niang.

During part one of our preview we spoke with Western Illinois’s Chad Boudreau and Eastern Illinois’s Marty Simmons.

Coming up next: We preview number seven Tennessee Tech and the two teams tied for fifth and six in the official preseason poll, Morehead State and Lindenwood.

Do Good

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
