Previewing the Ohio Valley Conference

Our Conversations With Coaches & Players

(St. Louis, MO) – We went to Evansville, Indiana to meet with all the Ohio Valley Conference coaches and some of their players. The league announced its preseason poll and here are our interviews with the eleventh and tenth ranked teams, as we begin previewing the Ohio Valley Conference.

These are the official OVC predictions. Mine are different and will come out in a story on BustingBrackets.com this coming week.

No. 11 – Western Illinois – 12-19 (6-14)

OVC’s ‘Players to Watch’ – Lucas Lorenzen (NAIA all-American) and Antwaun Massey (4.2 ppg & 3.4 rebounds per game for SIU).

We interviewed third-year head coach Chad Boudreau (33-31) and 6’6, redshirt sophomore forward Ifiok Peter.

No. 10 – Eastern Illinois – 12-19 (8-12)

OVC’s ‘Players to Watch – Kooper Jacobi (11.8 ppg & 8.9 rebounds per game) and Zion Fruster (11.6 ppg & 3.1 rebounds per game).

We interviewed fifth-year head coach Marty Simmons (40-85 & 224-260 overall) and the 6’7 Jacobi.

Our next previewing of the Ohio Valley Conference will feature ninth ranked Southern Indiana and eighth ranked UT Martin.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
