Williams to Edwardsville & Other OVC Updates

(St. Louis, MO) – Jon Harris is filling out his coaching staff and Ohio Valley Conference teams are filling out their rosters.

SIUE – Kent Williams

SIUEWe’ve been hearing from several sources, that former Southern Illinois Carbondale great, and Nashville, Illinois native Kent Williams will join Harris’ staff at Southern Illinois Edwardsville. The two coached together under Cuonzo Martin at Missouri State and Tennessee. He fits the ‘teacher’ qualification Harris spoke to us about at his press conference, as he is a highly qualified shooting tactician and has a long relationship with Harris and a familiarity with what the head coach will want to accomplish. Willams stayed in the Midwest when Martin, Harris others made the move to California last season, and did some regional basketball broadcasting.

Murray State – Re-Stocks

Meanwhile, the OVC’s premier program seems to be refilling to cupboard. With the likes of OVC player of the year Cameron Payne moving to the NBA draft, and seniors T.J. Sapp, Jarvis Williams and Jonathan Fairell ending their eligibility, Head Coach Steve Payne is reloading.

With transfers Damarcus Croaker (Texas) and Gee McGhee (Chattanooga) waiting in the wings and joining the team next year, Prohm has signed two quality replacement junior college players for next season’s squad.
