Top Ten on West List

Terry Taylor and Jordan Goodwin Make the Cut

Editor: The following is part of a press release from hoophallawards.com.

(Springfield, MA) –  (Jan. 26, 2021) — The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the Top 10 candidates for the 2021 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award. Named after Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player Jerry West, the annual honor in its seventh year recognizes the top shooting guards in Division I men’s college basketball. A national committee of college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in November, which has now been narrowed to 10.

Editor: No player outside the ‘power seven’ conferences has ever won this award. Saint Louis University’s Jordan Goodwin, Austin Peay’s Terry Taylor and Gonzaga’s Joel Ayayi are the only players outside the ‘money conferences’ among this year’s top ten finalists.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
