Sports Illustrated’s Kevin Sweeney

Covering the Whole NCAA

(St. Louis, MO) – In an era where national sports networks rarely cover any league outside the ‘power conferences’ Sports Illustrated’s Kevin Sweeney does his best to pay attention mid and low major teams. We were pleased to see Kevin at Arch Madness and asked him to join our ‘Voices of the Valley’ segment of the site.

Sweeney is working his third NCAA Tournament and will be in Albany, New York this week, where the Drake Bulldogs will be competing with Miami.

His insights on mid majors, and the state of college basket ball will help you understand the current state of ‘Name, Image and Likeness’, the ‘portal pandemic’ and which coaching changes are still possible.

Enjoy our conversation with si.com writer Kevin Sweeney.

Also read his latest work on which ten teams could make Cinderella Runs!

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
