Editor: The following is part of a press release from slubillikens.com.

(St. Louis, MO) – Saint Louis junior swingman Javonte Perkins was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s ‘Player of the Week‘ for men’s basketball, the league announced on Monday. It is Perkins’ second A-10 Player of the Week honor this season.

Perkins led the Billikens with 22 ppg last week. He shot 66.7 percent from the field (16-24), 66.7 percent from 3-point range (6-9) and 85.7 percent from the stripe (6-7).

Against UMass on Feb. 18, Perkins scored 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Against VCU on Feb. 21 at Chaifetz Arena, he poured in 25 points and added seven rebounds while leading the Billikens to an 80-62 victory.

For the season, Perkins is averaging a team-leading 17.8 ppg in conference games only. That ranks fifth in the A-10.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
