OVC Part of National Unity Pledge

Editor: The following is part of a press release from ovcsports.com.

(Nashville, TN) – This season you will see Ohio Valley Conference teams, and other teams around the country, sporting a Unity Patch on uniforms.

The patch is part of a Unity Pledge and Logo approved by the NCAA’s three divisional Student-Athlete Advisory Committees and the Board of Governors Student-Athlete Engagement Committee. They are symbolic gestures to continue generating stronger unity among the NCAA’s 1,100-plus schools and nearly 500,000 student-athletes.

The logo includes three different colored hands holding one another’s wrists inside a circle with “United As One” at the bottom.

The effort to create the pledge and the corresponding mark was keyed by three SAAC chairs — Braly Keller for Division III, a former Nebraska Wesleyan athlete; Alex Shillow for Division II, a football player at Texas A&M-Commerce; and Ethan Good for Division I, a former men’s basketball player at Bowling Green — joined Colby Pepper, a former men’s soccer player at Division III Covenant

Student-Athlete Unity Pledge

I am an NCAA student-athlete and I pledge to be a Champion of Unity on my team, on my campus, and in my community

I pledge to stand against all forces of division and separation.

I pledge to embrace differences and strive for inclusion and collaboration.

I pledge to stand against racism, hate, and discrimination.

I pledge to strive for love, care, and forgiveness.

I pledge to stand against silence, deceit, and obscurity.

I pledge to strive for dialogue, truth, and understanding.

I pledge to stand against fear and doubt.

I pledge to strive for trust and belief in one another.

I pledge to stand against complacency and stagnancy.

I pledge to strive for change and growth.

I commit to supporting my fellow student-athletes in all circumstances that impact them.

I commit to both choosing unity personally and encouraging it for all.

I pledge these things because we are stronger together.

While you're all stirred up about @MissouriStBears leaving the @MVCsports you can get to know @UIC_MBB new coach @RobEhsan who is building the Flames' basketball program.

Since 2000, Missouri State's football team is 101-164. They've accumulated 5 winning seasons, with ONE being better than 6-5. They've accumulated SEVEN seasons of at least 8 losses. Not knocking them for struggling, but to move up for THAT sport has to come with some very good $
