National Title Shot For Drury

HallSt. Louis, MO – Drury University is heading to national championship game in Atlanta. No not that championship game, the Division 2 title contest on Sunday. The Panthers have won 22 straight games and battle Metropolitan State (Denver) at 3:00 p.m. The two teams play in Phillips Arena (home of the Hawks).

Drury is in the NCAA tournament for the eighth time and won their semi-final game over defending champion Western Washington 107-97. In that win Great Lakes Valley Player of the Year Alex Hall scored 35 points. Hall was recently named to the NABC’s all-american team.

The Panthers are 30 & 4 and making their sixth visit to post season play in the nine years of Coach Steve Hesser’s tenure. Drury has never won a national championship and they are seeking the GLVC’s first national title since Bellarmine took home the trophy in 2011.

Sunday’s game will be broadcast live on CBS TV.
