Making History

(St. Louis, MO) – Heath Schroyer’s historical season continues. Thursday, UT-Martin’s first year coach led his team to the program’s first ever Division 1 postseason victory. A team that was 8-23 last year is now 19-12, after a convincing 104-79 triumph of Northwestern State.

Alex Anderson (30 points) led the offensive explosion splashing seven three-pointers, while three other teammates reached double figures in scoring. Deville Smith recorded a triple-double (21 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists). Anderson’s 30 points were a career high, as were the rebound and assist totals for Smith.

The Skyhawks set a school record with 16 baskets from three-point distance, and moved on to the second round of the College Insider.com Tournament. They will take on USC Upstate on Saturday.

Ohio Valley Conference teams have won all four of their postseason games.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
