Coach of the Year Finalists

Alexander, DeVries & Moser

Editor: The following is part of a press release from NCAA.com.

“The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced 15 men’s basketball coaches on the late season watch list for the Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s Coach of the Year award.

The Big 12 leads in conference representation with four coaches on the list.

Gonzaga’s Mark Few is the only previous winner of the award to appear on the list. Few won the award in 2017.

2020 finalists Scott Drew (Baylor) and Leonard Hamilton (Florida State) both landed on this year’s short list.

A list of 10 National semifinalists will be announced March 5. Four finalists will be named on March 17. The winner will be announced on April 4.

Editor: The finalist list contains the Ohio Valley Conference’s Casey Alexander (Belmont) and two coaches from the Missouri Valley. Drake’s Darian DeVries and Loyola Chicago’s Porter Moser join Alexander and former member of the Valparaiso family Scott Drew among the finalists.

The only MVC or OVC coach to win the Naismith award was Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall (2013-14).

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
