… and the nominees are …

(St. Louis, MO) – Missouri Valley Conference finger prints are all over the post season awards finalists list. Wichita State is represented in two of the categories announced by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Senior Cleanthony Early is a finalist for the “Oscar Robertson – Player of the Year” award. Robertson, of course played in the Valley. Among those joining Early on the list is former MVC star Doug McDermott of Creighton and Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins, the brother of Early’s teammate, Nick Wiggins.

Shocker Head Coach Gregg Marshall is one of ten finalists for the “Henry Iba – Coach of the Year” award. Iba of course coached in the MVC. Also in the running for this trophy are former Valley coaches Greg McDermott of Creighton and Jim Crews of Saint Louis University.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry
