Voices of the Valley – Quarterfinals – MSU vs Bradley

(St. Louis, MO) – It is quarterfinal day at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and we have a special treat on Voices of The Valley. In this edition, we focus totally on the Bradley Braves and Missouri State Bears.

Those two teams meet in Saturday’s second game. The Braves are 17 and 14 and the Bears are 16 and 15. Missouri State swept Bradley in the regular season.

We connected with the ‘scribes’ Wyatt Wheeler from the Springfield News Leader and Dave Reynolds of the Peoria Journal Star. We were also privileged to spend time with play-by-play broadcasters Dave Snell (Bradley) and Art Hains (Missouri State).

First a word from our sponsors!

Wyatt Wheeler is a great writer and covers all things Missouri State.

Dave Snell has broadcast close to 1,100 Bradley Braves’ games. He is a hall-of-famer and a great man. We discussed the tournament, the matchup and our mutual friend, the deceased Larry Cotlar.

The Journal Star’s Dave Reynolds is a hall-of-famer too. You can’t swing a dead cat in Enterprise Center without hitting someone that is in a hall-of-fame.

Art Hains is, you guessed it, a hall-of-famer! He’s the voice of Missouri State sports and Bears basketball.

Stay tuned to the site, more editions of Voices of the Valley are on the way.

Do Good

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
