Sycamores Head to the Bahamas

(BIMINI BAHAMAS) – Four Division-I men’s basketball teams will compete in the 2019 Junkanoo Jam, Nov. 21-24 at Gateway Christian Academy. The field includes Air Force, Duquesne, Indiana State and Loyola Marymount. Teams will play a round robin tournament with a crowning of a champion at the end with the best record. All games will stream live at www.flohoops.com.

Game 1 – Loyola Marymount vs. Air Force
Game 2 – Duquesne vs. Indiana State
 
Nov. 22, 2019
Game 3 – Indiana State vs. Loyola Marymount
Game 4 – Duquesne vs. Air Force

Nov. 24, 2019
Game 5 – Air Force vs. Indiana State
Game 6 – Loyola Marymount vs. Duquesne

The first tipoff of the 2019 tournament will feature Loyola Marymount and Air Force on Thursday Nov. 21. In addition, Duquesne and Indiana State will play after the conclusion of game one. All teams will return to Gateway Christian Academy on Nov. 22 to continue play in which Indiana State will face Loyola Marymount and Duquesne against Air Force. All game times are yet to be announced.

“We’re very excited about the field we’ve put together for this tournament,” said tournament director Jason Sarkies. “This event offers strong competition to all the teams while giving them a chance to enjoy Bimini.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday Nov. 24 with two final games between Air Force and Indiana State, followed by Loyola Marymount and Duquesne. The tournament champion will be crowned after the conclusion of the second game on the final day.

Located just 50 miles off Florida’s coast, Bimini is the closest Bahamian island to the United States, boasting miles of pristine beaches. Known as Ernest Hemingway’s favorite escape, Bimini is historically significant. Visitors from around the world enjoy its historical complexity and renowned past.
