Sweet 16 In Chicago – Part One

(Chicago, IL) – United Center is cool. As you would imagine the seats inside are Blackhawk & Bulls red and black. The security people around the building are very helpful to this lost St. Louisian, and the wind, well it’s windy! I practically got knocked down walking from the parking lot to the entrance. But I’m inside!

IMG_0902Iowa State is first up on the court and then they’ll head to the interview spaces. We’ll have comments from former Murray State Head Coach Steve Prohm up on the site soon. He obviously isn’t under any huge pressure in this bigger stage. While practice is going on, he’s carrying around a child.

Virginia is second on the interview schedule. While that is going on, I’ll be looking for former Saint Louis University Head Coach and current Cavalier assistant Brad Soderberg. I’m looking forward to catching up with one of the genuinely good guys in the sport.

Gonzaga, the only team from outside the power conferences will be a part of the process today. So we’ll try to find out how Mark Few keeps the program humming.

Syracuse is the final team. Suspensions aside, they are a dangerous team in this tournament. We’ll keep you up to date on all the happenings in Chicago!

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
