Streaking Salukis

One on One with Scott Nagy

(St. Louis, MO) – Scott Nagy’s first season with Southern Illinois took a while to look the way he wanted it. Now the streaking Salukis are moving up the Missouri Valley Conference standings. SIU (12-13, 7-7) has won seven of its last nine games and visits Bradley on Wednesday.

Bradley handled SIU 83-60 during an early December visit to Carbondale. The Salukis dropped their first five MVC games and the first four were by a wide margin. While SIU fell to 0-5 during a loss at Belmont, the confidence earned during the second half of that loss has catapulted them forward.

Nagy says his streaking Salukis have really improved in every facet of their play. One part of the improvement came when Nagy handed the defensive strategies to assistant coach Steve Hawkins. Guard Kennard Davis has emerged as a team leader and ranks highly in numerous MVC statistical categories.

Here is our complete conversation about the Salukis’ game with Bradley

The streaking Salukis and Bradley (19-6, 10-4) tip it off at 6 pm (Central) on your local Gray Media station and Matrix Midwest in St. Louis. It is part of a Valley double header. Drake’s visit to Illinois State follows that game at 8 pm, on those same local television stations.

Do Good

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
