Despite being one of the Missouri Valley’s leading scorers, Southern Illinois’ Anthony Beane won the award for the first time this season. The junior from Normal, Illinois averaged 22.5 points helping the Salukis to a split of two conference games. The strong week moved Beane’s season scoring average to 16.3 points per game.

Despite two players sharing the Ohio Valley’s weekly honor, they were both first time recipients. Morehead State swept two OVC games and moved into a first place tie in the East Division. They were sparked to the victories by Karam Mashour. The Israel native averaged 21.5 points and ten rebounds per game.

Mashour shared the award with UT-Martin’s Marshun Newell. The Skyhawk guard averaged 20.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in a pair of league wins. UTM is now in sole possession of second place in the West.

The race in the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s East Division is as tight as possible. Bellarmine and UW-Parkside are tied for the division lead at 12-1, with Indianapolis one game back. Bellarmine guard Chris Whitehead is this week’s GLVC player of the week. He dropped 22 points on both Truman and Quincy last week, helping the Knights stay tied for that top spot.
