Shockers Win And Get Good News

(St. Louis, MO) – It was a weird day for the Wichita State basketball program. Early in the morning Shocker fans and program members learned that former Shocker, and current New York Knick Cleanthony Early was shot outside a New York club.

Then WSU played a 1:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon game.

Good news on both fronts. Early, who was robbed and shot in the leg, sustained no permanent damage and is in good spirits. Wichita State then defeated Drake 67-47.

Ron Baker led Wichita State (7-5, 1-0) with 14 points. Fred VanVleet added 13. Drake (5-8, 0-1) shot under 38% as the Shockers’ defense continues to improve as their health improves.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
