MVC & OVC Players on Henson Watch List

(St. Louis, MO) – Missouri Valley Conference and Ohio Valley Conference players have been named to the Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation’s top Division I mid-major player.

Evan Bradds from Belmont and Eastern Kentucky’s Nick Mayo are on the list from the OVC. Paris Lee and MiKyle McIntosh from Illinois State, Markis McDuffie and Shaquille Morris from Wichita State, Indiana State’s Brenton Scott and Northern Iowa’s Jeremy Morgan are also a part of  to the list from the MVC.

No player from either of those leagues has ever won the season ending award. Thomas Walkup from Stephen F. Austin was last year’s recipient.

Henson coached 41 years, winning 779 games. He is the winningest coach at Illinois and New Mexico State. Henson won 423 games with the Fighting Illini.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?
