Mullins Out – Luke Martin What’s Next at SIU

SIU Broadcaster Sheds Light

(St. Louis, MO) – Bryan Mullins is out as the head coach of the Southern Illinois basketball program after five seasons. His five year record of 86-68 wasn’t deemed good enough by the university and Athletic Director Tim Leonard. We asked LukeMartin what’s next at SIU?

After a high-water mark of 23 wins last season, Mullins was voted third in the Valley’s ‘Coach of the Year’ balloting for this 19-win season.

SIU broadcaster Luke Martin interviewed Mr. Leonard and found out the reasoning behind the departure. Immediately after yesterday’s games were over, he joined us for a live podcast at Enterprise Center. We discussed the tournament, his relationship with his former employer (Indiana State) and the current SIU situation.

Luke is a top flight journalistic and covered this so well. Listen to his podcast here.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
