MBU, MVC & OVC Academically Excellent

Editor: The following is a portion of a press release from nabc.com.

(Kansas City, MO) –  The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the sixth annual Team Academic Excellence Awards, created by the NABC Committee on Academics. These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2017-18 season. The NABC invites you to share the success of these student-athletes on social media using the hashtag #NABCTeamExcellence.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s student-athletes who competed during the 2017-18 season.

Editor: There are several programs we at ValleyHoopsInsider.com report follow closely have earned these academic accolades.

St. Louis based Missouri Baptist University earned the award.

Bradley, Loyola and Southern Illinois were the Missouri Valley Conference award winners.

Ohio Valley Conference programs Austin Peay and Belmont were recognized as academically excellent.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
