Lucas Williamson on the Loyola Ramblers Chicago Champions

Edge DePaul for the City Bragging Rights

(St. Louis, M) – Loyola Chicago continues to dominate teams in the State of Illinois. Saturday they defeated Big East Conference member DePaul and have swept all the Chicago area teams again this year to claim the title, Loyola Ramblers Chicago Champions.

68-64 was the final and all-league guard Lucas Williamson joined us during the team’s bus ride back to Rogers Park.

Williamson led the Ramblers with 15 points and shut down DePaul star Javon Freeman-Liberty to spark the LUC victory. JFL came into the game averaging over 20 points per game and finished with a season-low seven points.

Williamson has been a part of the 2018 Final Four appearance, 2021’s Sweet Sixteen team and two Missouri Valley Conference regular season titles. He says the game at Wintrust Arena felt like a big time college basketball event.

Here is our entire conversation.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
