IT’S OFFICIAL! CHRIS JANS – NEW COACH AT BOWLING GREEN

(St. Louis, MO) – Wichita State Assistant Head Coach Chris Jans is leaving the program for Bowling Green. Jans has been with Head Coach Gregg Marshall and the Shockers for seven years. The official word has been released by bgskufalcons.com and a press conference will be conducted Tuesday.

Jans has been a wildly successful head coach at the junior college level with a six year record of 159 – 45 including an NJCAA national title when he was 28 years-old. Coach Marshall has told me more than once about Jans’ recruiting and scouting ability.

“Chris Jans is doing the things that we want to do at BGSU,” D. Christopher Kingston (BG Athletic Director) said. “He is a championship coach, a championship recruiter and a championship person. He is absolutely the right fit for Falcon men’s basketball. He has the coaching expertise and personality to immediately ignite the players and fan base, as we begin the new era of men’s basketball in the Stroh Center under his leadership. I am excited for Chris and his family to join us in Bowling Green, Ohio.”

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
