(Indianapolis, IN) – Freshman Reggie Lynch set an all-time Missouri Valley Conference record Wednesday night. The Illinois State center blocked five Sienna shots, giving him 96 on the season and establishing a new freshman record.

Unfortunately the record came in a loss that ended the season for the Redbirds. ISU lost 61-49 at Sienna in the semi finals of the College Basketball Insider tournament. The very young Redbirds finish the season with a record of 18-16. The Saints move to the finals carrying a record of 18-17.

Lynch also led the Redbirds with 15 points. He finishes the season with four more blocks than Creighton’s Benoit Benjamin (1982-83) for that freshman record and seven behind Jeff Wilkins’ 103 blocks for the ISU single season record.

There are no Missouri Valley Conference teams left in post-season play.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
