(St. Louis, MO) – Valparaiso and Northern Iowa are each off to their program’s best starts since the 2019-2020 season. Fast starts for UNI & Valpo are part of the Missouri Valley Conference’s tenth place ranking at KenPom.com. The Panthers and Belmont are two of the nation’s 45 undefeated teams and are each ranked among kenpom.com’s top 100 teams.

Paul Oren’s  TheVictoryBell.com covers the entire Valparaiso athletic department. His coverage of the entire Beacon sports scene is outstanding and his coverage of Beacon basketball comes in at an elite level. JW Cox is in his fourth season as the ‘voice of the Panthers’. These two men know these two programs better than almost anyone alive.

We discussed ‘live’ on YouTube the fast starts for UNI & Valpo. I asked them about key players on each roster and we talked about today’s contests. The Beacons host Southern Indiana  and the Panthers play Tulsa at the Acrisure Invitational (Palm Springs).

UNI (6-0) has three players averaging double-digits in scoring and seven players averaging 5.2 or more points per game. Leon Bond III (14.2 ppg), Trey Campbell (13.6) and Tristan Smith (12.3) are the headliners.

Valparaiso (4-1) boasts of ten players participating in over thirteen minutes per game. Freshman Rakim Chaney is the Valley’s second leading scorer (18.4 ppg) and leads the Beacons in assists (3.6 per game) and three-point shooting (.536).
