Drake Walking Wounded

Interview with Matthew Bain

(St. Louis, MO) – Matthew Bain (@MatthewBain_)covers Drake for the Des Moines Register and has unique insights about this year’s team and their chances at Arch Madness.

The Bulldogs (24-3, 15-3) lost ShanQuan Hemphill and then Roman Penn to late season injuries and their undefeated season slid from 18-0 to 24-3. They open Arch Madness play Friday against the winner of a Thursday game between Northern Iowa and Illinois State.

The walking wounded Bulldogs are in the hunt for an NCAA Tournament bid, but most observers believe they have some work to do in St. Louis.

We discussed coach Darian DeVries’ future and even Matthew’s honeymoon.

Here is our interview with Matthew Bain!

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
