Dinnebier and McDermott – Player of the Year Finalists

Editor: The following is part of a release from herhoopstats.com.

(Hopewell, NJ) We are proud to announce the 15-player midseason watch list for the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award presented by Her Hoop Stats. The Becky Hammon Award was first given out in 2020, with South Dakota’s Ciara Duffy being named the inaugural winner. Gonzaga’s Yvonne Ejim won the most recent award in 2024.

This year’s midseason list includes representatives from 15 teams and 10 conferences. Five conferences – the A-10, MEAC, Mountain West, Missouri Valley and Summit League – placed two players on the watch list.

Editor: The Missouri Valley Conference’s Katie Dinnebier and Maya McDermott are part of this midseason watch list. Northern Iowa’s McDermott (20.7 ppg) and Drake’s Dinnebier (20.5) are dominating the Valley’s statistical categories. While Dinnebier leads the league in assists and steals, McDermott is the top free throw shooter and tops in assist/turnover ratio.

Dinnebier is a six-time recipient of the Valley’s ‘Player of the Week‘ award.

Editor: Our only question is where is Eastern Illinois’ Macy McGlone? The Panther forward is averaging 17.9 points and 10.3 rebounds and has an Ohio Valley Conference leading 27 blocked shots.

I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
