Bradley & Drake = Academic Excellence

(St. Louis, MO) – Two Missouri Valley Conference basketball programs have been recognized for academic excellence. Bradley and Drake universities are those two programs. The Brave and Bulldog programs were noted as two of 47 Division 1 basketball teams to receive a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award.

The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by teams with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2016-17 season. Drake has made the list twice in the past three years. According to godrakebulldogs.com says four Bulldogs made the MVC’s scholar athlete team, headed by the league’s scholar athlete of the year, Reed Timmer. I haven't heard, nor do I know, how does this apply to the typical 'foreign' basketball player that is most often over 19?

Obviously, this is a sentimental and not a ‘spreadsheet’ notion, but would hate to see @MVCsports change the #ArchMadness format from the traditional ‘family reunion’ feel by cutting teams from the experience. #FatherHarry

Congrats to @ISURedbirdGolf. T.J. Barger sets a school record. Pietro Pontiggia records the Redbirds' second-ever top 20 finish at a regional. The team finishes tent in the region which is tied for the program's best regional finish! #FatherHarry
