Let the OVC Chaos Begin! Great OVC Matchups On Thursday

Top Teams Square Off

(St. Louis, MO) – We are in for a great night of Ohio Valley Conference action. So we say, “Let the OVC chaos begin! During tonight’s five games, the league’s top eight teams all square off, in what will be a standings shaping night.

Winless Western Illinois has the night off and Tennessee Tech (2-4) entertains Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles are 0 and 6.

Let the OVC Chaos Begin!

Eastern Illinois (7-10, 4-3) @ Little Rock (7-10, 4-2) – 7 pm – ESPN+

These teams struggled in the non-conference portion of their schedule, but are playing their best basketball at the right time. EIU has won three straight games and the Trojans have taken their last two. Little Rock’s Johnathan Lawson is the reigning ‘Player of the Week’ and is making a run at becoming the OVC ‘Player of the Year’.

Morehead State (8-9, 4-2) @ Tennessee State (10-6, 4-2) – 7:30 – ESPN+

Ironically, TSU is 3-1 on the road and only 1-1 at home. Morehead State is 2-1 both on the road and at home. MSU’s Davion Cunningham and Vince Dawson III are coming off weeks where they each claimed league-wide weekly honors. Tiger guard Travis Harper II leads the league in scoring. His teammate Aaron Nkrumah leads the conference in steals and the Tigers lead the OVC in that department collectively.

SIUE (10-7, 3-3) @ Tennessee Martin (13-4, 5-1) – 7:30 – ESPN+

The injury riddled Cougars travel to Martin, Tennessee for a game with the first place Skyhawks. People may forget that UT Martin lost their best player, Dragos Lungu just six games into the season. SIUE will be without Ring Malith and Myles Thompson the rest of the year. These are the OVC’s two best defensive teams, with each allowing under 67 points per game.

Lindenwood (10-7, 4-2) @ Southeast Missouri (9-8, 4-2) – 8:00 – ESPNU

After a fast start to league play, Lindenwood has dropped two straight games but the balanced Lions’ offense (tops in the league at 80.9 points-per-game) leans on a ‘team-first’ approach and lead the OVC in assists. SEMO’s B.J. Ward is having an outstanding season averaging 11.9 points and 4.1 assists per game. The Redhawks are the defending regular season champions.

Opening round of #ArchMadness is today. The only quarterfinal we know is @UIC_MBB v @RacersHoops tomorrow at 2:30. We look at their contrasting styles heading into the @MVCsports tournament. #FatherHarry

Don't look now, but @BustingBrackets tells us some of the hottest teams coming into #ArchMadness aren't the teams at the top of the bracket. @ValpoBasketball, @SIU_Basketball & @UNImbb shouldn't be overlooked. #FatherHarry

ICYMI: @BelmontMBB & @BradleyUMBB are two of the best at being committed to development and succeeding at the same time. #ArchMadness

Congrats to @RogerPowellJr, @CoachJonny_B & @NdotSmitty being named to the Ben Jobe Award finalist list. Well deserved!
