(St. Louis, MO) – Conference season is upon us and typically you see the ‘cream rising to the top’ and that is no exception in this week’s ‘players of the week’ announced by the three Valley conferences this site follows.
Pre-season all-american Ron Baker was tapped with the honor in the Missouri Valley Conference. It’s Baker’s second player of the week award this season. He was on fire in Wichita State’s (12-2)(2-0) two MVC wins. The 6’3” guard shot better than 65% for the week, sparked a late surge for a road win at Drake and had two key blocks in a win over Illinois State.

A former MVC player, Chris Olivier is the Ohio Valley Conference top player. The former Northern Iowa forward averaged 21 points and eight rebounds in Eastern Illinois’ (8-6)(2-0) two conference wins. Olivier also received the College Sports Madness’ Mid-Major Player of the Week.
Wisconsin-Parkside (10-1)(2-0) continues to make national impact and no one is more important to the Rangers’ drive to a third straight divisional championship in the Great Lakes Valley Conference than Zygimantas Riauka. Producing a pair of double-doubles in the opening weekend of GLVC play, reestablished Riauka as conference’s premier post player.
