A Triple Double and More Weekly Stars

(St. Louis, MO) – The 16th triple-double in Ohio Valley Conference history sparked a big win and produced a ‘Player of the Week‘ award for a UT Martin player and a career high in scoring did the same for an emerging Evansville star. This week’s award winners in the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conferences led their team to big wins.

Ohio Valley Conference 

Fatodd Lewis recorded UT Martin’s fourth ever, triple-double (the OVC’s 16th) in a 127-92 win over UC Clermont. He scored 34 points, hauled in 16 rebounds and handed out 12 assists. The Skyhawks won a pair of games and this week’s ‘Player of the Week’ AVERAGED 26.5 points, 15 rebounds and 6.5 assists. The 6’6 junior is the ninth leading rebounder in the OVC  (9.1 per game.)

Daniel Kinchen

Winning the ‘Newcomer of the Week‘ award for the second time this season, SIUE’s Daniel Kinchen led the Cougars to two victories while averaging 17 points per game. The Alabama Southern Community College transfer typically comes off the bench for coach Jon Harris and is the OVC’s ninth leading scorer at 15.4 points per game. Kinchen also won the award on November 20th.

UT Martin also brought home the ‘Freshman of the Week‘ award as Parrish Hewitt averaged 23 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in those two Skyhawk victories.

Missouri Valley Conference

With Ryan Taylor out with an injury, Dru Smith has been stepping into the void. The Valley’s ‘Player of the Week‘  scored a career-high 25 points against Bowling Green and added 17 points in the Evansville’s (8-2) victory over Canisius. The 6’3 sophomore handed out 13 assists during the two Purple Aces’ wins.

Freshman center Cameron Krutwig continues to prove he truly belongs in the world of ‘big boy basketball’. The 6’9 Loyola pivot scored 14 points and hauled in eight rebounds in the Ramblers’ win over No. 5 Florida. This week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘ added 12 points and eight caroms in LUC’s Norfolk State conquest.
